It’s something of a relief to send the kids back to school and once again not have them constantly bugging you while you are trying to get work done. Even though they are older and in high school, they still manage to pull your attention away from work. Summer vacation was nice, but now it’s time to get back into the regular routine of things.

The weekend after Labor Day is truly Artrageous. Start things off with the opening of the Woodson Art Musuem’s annual Birds in Art Exhibition. With their new exhibition space now open, this year’s exhibit promises to be bigger and better than ever. After checking out the exhibition at the Museum, be sure to head back downtown for the Festival of Arts show located along 3rd street and the 400 block of downtown Wausau. With the weather promising to be beautiful, this will be a great weekend to catch some local and regional artists as they show off their wares. If arts and crafts are more your style, don’t forget the long running Art in the Park in the multi-purpose buildings in Wausau’s Marathon Park. A complementary shuttle will run from the park, to downtown, and the Woodson Art Museum all weekend long.
Central WI Irish Fest
Had enough art and need to decompress? Central Wisconsin’s Irish Fest may be the place to be. Hosted by Native Irishman Jim Daly and found in the parking lot of Basil in Weston, this festival celebrates our journey around the calendar half way to St. Patrick’s Day. Three live bands, no cover. The fun starts at 4:00pm.

Want a little exercise while supporting a good cause? The Friends of Northland Run/Bike/Walk is this Saturday Morning with registration starting at 9:00am. All proceeds for the 7th annual event supports the high school’s tuition assistance program. As an alumni of Northland Lutheran High School, I excited to be supporting this event. This October is official social media month for me. I’ll be teach three different classes as part of the UWMC’s continuing eduction series. Wednesday October 2nd is Email Marketing for Business. Wednesday October 9, 16, & 23 is A three part introductory Social Media for Business class. And Wednesday October 30th is Advanced Social Media for Business.
