This week we hit the farmers market pretty early to purchase the season’s bounty. I love the market this time of year, the produce is so fragrant and everything is in season. We did score a 1/2 bushel of green beans; so if you are reading this letter, that means I’ve got my work done and am busy snapping beans and heating up the pressure canner. I’m glad it’s cooler today than it was yesterday.

Money Tip of the Week
“Living within your means” is a lifestyle everyone should learn and embrace. If your credit card balances are rising, groceries are becoming hard to purchase each month, and/or you never seem to build up your savings account, it is time to review and cut back on your current spending. Balancing your income and expenditures can be difficult at times, but will pay off in the long run. Build a budget and eliminate one unnecessary expense every month or so. Trying to adjust to a new budget all at one time will not only be extremely difficult, but the adjustments are less likely to be long term.
Between the classroom and the career lies the internship. An internship gives students the opportunity to shadow their prospective career path of choice, gaining industry connections and cultivating the exact skills needed to succeed. RelyLocal Wausau has a marketing internship opportunity. Details are on the Buy Local Wausau Blog:
This week we got the kids all ready for another year of school. As they hit the high school years it really doesn’t get a whole lot easier, just more expensive. At least as they get older I don’t have to do the mad dash to buy school supplies. Pens, pencils, notebooks and folders are about all they really need. That is after you invest in the $100 calculator. But even my son who couldn’t wait for school to end a couple of months ago is eagerly counting the days til the semester starts. I guess change can be a good thing.
Have a great weekend and don’t forget to keep it local.
