This week the weatherman asked the question: is this our January Thaw or an early spring. I’m putting my money on the January thaw. With temps in the 30’s, it certainly is nice outside. But it looks like colder weather will soon return, so enjoy it while you can.

YWCA Men Who Cook

The YWCA’s Men Who Cook event is fast approaching. My table of 8 is sold out, but plenty of other seats are still available for the Saturday January 19th event. At Men Who Cook, local celebrity chefs prepare an elegant four course dinner for a table of eight. Cuisine ranges from American, Continental, Mediterranean, South Pacific, and more. I’m doing a French meal based on the food and culture of the Alsace-Lorraine regions of France. Follow along this week with my dessert, a delicious Rum Cake.

Closing Thoughts

Making the rounds to area businesses after the holidays, I’ve been taking an informal poll on how their shopping season was. Things are sounding optimistic as most shops are reporting either slightly above or well above sales for the season. That’s great news to hear. Let’s keep our local economy rolling by continuing to ‘Buy Local.’ Have a great weekend.
