Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hopefully the holiday will be relaxing and enjoyable. I know I’m looking forward to spending time with the family. In your Thanksgiving celebration, please take a moment and reflect on things you and your family have to be thankful for. It’s been a great two years  so far and I’m so thankful for all of the RelyLocal Business Members that are part of our community campaign to promote buying local and strengthen the local economy.

Resch Insurance

It has been a tradition that our Church Family help to make Christmas merrier for many local needy families.  We deliver the makings of Christmas dinner, other non-perishable food, and some gifts for the children.  Through the years we have delivered to some families where the only gifts for the children were what we brought.  We ask if the children have the essentials of a warm winter coat, boots, hat, gloves and snow pants.  If not…we provide.  Each child will receive a new pair of jeans, a sweatshirt or sweater, and one toy or craft item.  We also do a Family Activity Box that includes crayons, paper, flash cards, new/used puzzles, and new/used children’s books, or anything to keep active minds positively stimulated.

We at Resch Insurance fully support “Christmas Families” at Covenant Community Presbyterian Church.   We are making a mission to fulfill ten items for the boys and girls.   Located in our Weston office, we will have green and red hearts of wish items for the children. If you would like to help out this wonderful cause, please stop on by and pick out a heart that will make a difference.  We will also be accepting non-perishable food items such as green beans, jello, cranberries, stuffing mixes, cookie mixes, canned pumpkin, sugar, flour, ….any other items to help the families have a chance at a great Christmas meal.

Do you ever wish that people would honor your right to grieve? Maybe everything is different this year. Maybe family and friends just don’t understand how difficult the holidays will be for you. If the thought of the holidays creates tension and pain or you aren’t quite sure how you will get through the weeks ahead, we’ve got some ideas for you. Learn how you can satisfy expectations without compromising your feelings.   The  “Good News” is almost every bereaved person is capable of finding joy–even when the holidays hurt!  We’ll show you it’s possible to “save the day” and create a meaningful holiday experience this year and for years to come. Closing Thoughts

Once the turkey is devoured and the leftovers are stored away; our attention focuses on Black Friday and holiday shopping. But if you’re like me, you’re probably turned off by the feeding frenzy and crass commercialism that Black Friday produces. Fortunately there are meaningful ways in which you can avoid the Black Friday crunch and still support our great locally owned and independent businesses. Read my post on the Buy Local Wausau blog about 10 ways to take back the holidays and don’t forget to: Think Local, Live Local, Rely Local.
