Another Valentine’s Day has come and gone. The candy may be eaten and the flowers starting to wilt, but the effects of buying local and supporting our local businesses lives on. For Every $100 spent locally, up to $68 stays in the local economy as opposed to $43 circulated locally when spent at chains and national retailers. That means up to 70% more money stays local when spent with locally owned businesses.
You may notice in this email newsletter that some businesses are featured more than others. I love to give all the RelyLocal business members equal billing, but some work harder at promoting their business and supplying us with news and information. If you’ve got a story to tell, don’t be bashful, email it to firstname.lastname@example.org for inclusion in our next newsletter. It’s a benefit of membership and you’ll hit a highly localized audience.

I am a big fan of the programming and services of the Woodson YMCA. The Y has been building stronger communities for over 150 years. So I’m pleased to see that they are offering a women’s self defense class on Saturday, February 18th. The Head Taekwondo Instructor at the Woodson YMCA will be hosting a women’s self defense seminar. The seminar will be held from 1:00 – 2:30 PM in the aerobic room at the Woodson YMCA. THe cost is $10 for YMCA Members/$20 for non-members. This class is NOT a workout; but rather, an introductory look at self defense and personal safety techniques. It is applicable to ANY age. Please wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. Questions are welcomed at email@example.com.
