Limericks Public House: Wausau’s newest irish pub is now open

Limericks Public House Wausau irish pubMy wife any I where downtown on a Saturday evening for drinks and dinner away from the kids. While browsing the downtown area we stumbled on the soft opening for Limericks Public House; a true Irish pub in Wausau Wisconsin. Located at 121 Scott St, they are on corner of 2nd and Scott Streets in the ground floor of the Jefferson parking ramp.

Walking into Limericks, the first thing you notice is that it’s a work in progress. The concrete floor and lack of decorations make for an open and noisy atmosphere. But as they open, the proprietor has plans to keep improving and refining the place. Already you can tell the place will have a unique style with dark woods, high back booths, and soft lighting. Plans are in store to add a kitchen and start serving a limited menu for lunch and dinner. If you need a bite to eat at Limericks, you can order delivery from both the Chang Garden next door and Polito’s Pizza up the block.

But the true gem of Limericks is their selection of Irish beers and whiskys. They currently have four true Irish beers, and a pear cider on tap and a get selection of Scotchs and Whiskys, with more to come.

I guess great things take time; the wait was worth it. The beer was the smoothest and creamiest pour of Guinness I had in a very long time.

Limericks is open most nights, Monday – Saturday from 4:00pm to close.

I personally think they should have waited until the place was finished to open. It’s all about first impressions, not future possible impressions. I also think they should have a bathroom instead of the one that is down a hallway a block long. I wish them luck though. Who doesn’t like beer!

Why don’t you list a phone number?

I’m not sure Limericks Public House has a listed phone number. I didn’t see a number online and I don’t believe the owner wants me to distribute his personal number.
